Susan's Technology Page

Jan. 21
Today we are learning about Wikis. A Wiki is a collaborative site. It will be a quick way for us to post what we have learned/ or important things we want to remember during each session. I am anxious to use this site with my new reading I and E group. We will be reading a novel. I think this will be a fun way for the students to do a summary of the chapters as we read them. They can read what other students write to see if important details and story elements have been included.
I could also post questions for them to answer.
We also created an account for the school fusion site. We entered our educational philosophy and experience into our profile. We watched a short smart board presentation on the school fusion site and explored on our own.

Jan. 27

We explored Wiki Resources to see how Wikis can be used in the classroom. We were shown how to link a site to our School Fusion page. We also merged our subject pages into one page on our School Fusion page.

We learned how to upgrade our subscription to the free educational status.
We revised our School Fusion Page. We added events to the calendar and explored the editing tools that can be used with the calendar. We added homework section and themed background. We also added our classroom schedule. We learned how to move items around on the page and practiced different arrangements. We explored the IXL Math site. It covers many topics and has fun ways to practice math skills. It would be nice to have a school subscription.

Feb. 10
We learned/reviewed/practiced how to use the SMART board tools. Molly also showed us how to use a document camera.
We also explored the Smart Tech. Website.

March 4
We learned about digital citizenship. Marcia walked us through some new sites that she added to our resource page. We attended a workshop on myON books. It is an access to high-quality books on line. Reading scaffolds. It can can be accessed anywhere over the internet. Reports and quizzes are included. You have the ability to assign book lists to students. Students read and rate books on line. It seems like it will be a great resource to use with struggling students.
Classroom Use--I use technology in the classroom for at least 60 minutes each day.
